The William G. McGowan Charitable Fund is proud to introduce the 2012-2013 McGowan Fellow from Dartmouth College, Tuck School of Business: Karen E. Olson William McGowan, co-founder and driving force behind MCI Communications, was a maverick entrepreneur and visionary leader. Throughout his pioneering career, he remained grounded by his working-class roots and guided by an unwavering moral compass. Across decades of tumultuous business obstacles and through years of personal health challenges, William McGowan remained committed to ethical leadership and inspired by the human spirit.
The William G. McGowan Charitable Fund McGowan Fellows Program aims to realize the potential that William McGowan recognized in young people, and build a network of future business leaders who honor his legacy through | Karen is a second-year student at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. At Tuck, she is a Forté Fellow, Marketing Chair of the Women in Business Club, a Revers Board Fellow at Twin Pines Housing Trust, a Tuck Admissions Associate, and co-Chair of Tuck Volunteers. Karen is pursuing a career in General Management. She interned as a MBA Summer Associate at Keurig in the At Home Marketing division where she led the execution of a differentiated channel strategy for retail business. Prior to Tuck, Karen lived in Boston where she was a consultant in Corporate Strategy and Research, an internal strategy unit at Liberty Mutual Group. While in Boston, she volunteered at Dress for Success and served as a Big Sister. Karen graduated cum laude from Williams College in 2007 with a B.A. in Economics and Political Science and was a four year varsity swimmer.
